The article examines the problem of forming a healthy lifestyle culture in primary school children with mental retardation in the context of their psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation. The significance of this issue is substantiated as an important factor in the successful social adaptation and integration of this category of children. The main theoretical approaches to understanding the characteristics of a group of children with mental retardation, a culture of healthy lifestyle, and ways to form it in younger schoolchildren with mental retardation are highlighted. The key work areas aimed at forming a conscious and responsible attitude to health in younger schoolchildren with mental retardation are defined.
